Summernight Symposium 2009

The 11th summer night symposium was hosted by Roland Berger Strategy Consultants at the Vienna Liechtenstein Palace on Monday evening. The topic of the event was "Green industries – growth driver of the future". Notable Austrian businessmen and women talked with Finance Minister Josef Pröll, Prof. Franz Josef Radermacher (Club of Rome, Institute for Application Oriented Knowledge Processing), Prof. Helmut O. List (AVL List, an Austrian automotive consulting firm) and Prof. Roland Berger.

Despite rain and autumn-like weather, roughly 350 prominent guests from finance, business and the public sector met for the traditional symposium. The guests discussed today's current hot topic: merging ecology and business. Everyone agreed that only by using state-of-the-art technology will it be possible to solve global problems such as climate change, environmental pollution and dwindling resources. Special focus was also on attractive business opportunities found in environmental technology, even in difficult economic times.

Guests included ÖIAG boss Peter Michaelis, RZB board member Karl Sevelda, Austrian Post management board member Walter Hitziger, Werner Neuwirth-Riedl (bauMax), Mr. and Mrs. Senger-Weiss, Harald Sommerer (AT&S), Alois Steinbichler (Kommunalkredit Austria), Peter Mitterbauer (Miba), Christian Reisinger (Lenzing) and Alfred Heinzel (Heinzel Holding). Following the presentations, the participants stayed at the palace until the early morning hours to continue discussing these hot topics and soak up the atmosphere.
