Summernight Symposium 2006
On 22 June 2006, the 8th Summernight Symposium of Roland Berger Strategy Consultants took place in the Upper Belvedere in Vienna. The subject of the event was the region of Central Europe in 2016. Roland Berger CEO Dr. Burkhard Schwenker in his talk outlined the challenges and opportunities of the new EU countries. Günter Verheugen, Vice President of the European Commission, above all highlighted the political development of the region and future scenarios for the EU. Using his company as an example, Dr. Herbert Stepic, CEO of Raiffeisen International, showed the importance of banks as the motor of the upswing in the CEE countries. Among the listeners were the Serbian president Boris Tadic, Tomislav Thür, Head of the Croatian mineral-oil group INA, Walter Grausam, CFO Agrana, Jürg Zumtobel, Head of the Supervisory Board of the Vorarlberg lamp manufacturer of the same name, Chairman of the Supervisory Board Dr. Guido Schmidt-Chiari (Constantia-Packaging AG), Director Andreas Rudas (WAZ Ost-Holding GmbH, Vienna), Ex-Minister Monika Forstinger and the Office Managers of Roland Berger offices in Prague, Budapest, Bucharest und Warsaw.
More than 350 guests had come to the symposium and the subsequent summer party on the terrace in radiant weather. The time-tried piano duo "CleMaRic" stirred the audience with rousing boogie-woogie rhythms before the beautiful backdrop of the baroque park. The two night guided tours through the Egon Schiele exhibition found special favour. It was thus around 1 a.m. that the last guests left the event. Incidentally: Because of the great success, the Summernight Symposium 2007 will presumably be held in the Belevedere Palace again.
